Selected Italian audiences used to know Silvia mainly for her
stage work in her home country, but “"Van
Helsing"” introduced Silvia to a vast international audience.
After the success of the movie, many doors opened for Silvia, and she eventually
chose the indipendent Italian Movie "L'apocalisse
delle scimmie" di , directed by
talented "Romano
Scavolini" , who cast Silvia as Alice, a junkie single mother
whose life is ruled by heroin.
Although often compared to beautiful Italian actress Monica Bellucci (who,
coincidentally, also played one of Dracula's bides in Coppola's "Bram stoker's
Dracula"!), Silvia comes from an entirely different background.
She always wanted to be an actress and so her mother and father elected to
put her into acting school at the age of 13 where she studied drama for 7
years.
She also attended prestigious Music Academy of Milan for 4 years, where she
developed a mezzo-soprano voice, and this lead her in turn to many notable
Italian musical theatre productions. She worked in this time with some outstanding
directors, such as Maestro Giuseppe Patroni Griffi.
And then the unexpected...
In 2002, while she was in Switzerland filming tv series "The Lawyer", she
was told that American director Steven Sommers was keen to meet her for his
new project. Within 10 days Silvia was offered the role of Verona, Dracula's
lead bride in "Van Helsing".
Doesn't it sound like a fairy tale? Well...
like all fairy tales, there is a romantic happy-ending.
She found her Prince Charming in Australian actor Richard Roxburgh....Count
Dracula himself! They got married in Tuscany in September of this year.
Silvia and Richard took some time off right after the wedding, but they are
now back on the road again!
He's currently filming Cate Shortland's "The Silence", in Sydney.
Silvia starred in the American feature film "Decameron:
Angels&Virgins" , directed by David Leland, in which she
played the role of Sister Lisabetta , opposite Hayden Christensen.
She's about to start filming "Razor's Edge", in which she plays the lead role
opposite "Wesley
Snipes ", directed by "Po
Chih Leong".
